Volunteers are welcome at South Hills Montessori School. Do you have a passion you want to share with our students and community?
Background Registry Requirement
Volunteers who would like to assist in the classroom, be chaperones or drivers on field trips, or garden in the playground area, must be enrolled in the Central Background Registry (CBR) through the Oregon Department of Early Learning. The CBR process takes about two weeks and is free.
Ways to Volunteer
There's a place for every skill and interest
In the Classroom
Assist with reading, art and crafts, language, music, and more alongside our teachers and students.
In the Garden
Help with weeding, pruning, cleaning, laundry, and more. Garden volunteers may come by any time the school is open, Monday to Friday, 8 am to 6 pm.
Special Events
We plan special events throughout the year, including monthly potlucks, our Lunar New Year celebration, May Day celebration, and more — and we need help to make them happen!
Volunteer Requirements
Families are required to do 2 hours of volunteer work per month per student family.
In lieu of volunteer hours, families may also opt to contribute organic snacks and vegetables, classroom supplies, or pay a small fee if preferred. Full details TBA.
Extended Family & Friends Welcome
Extended family members and friends are welcome to help fulfill these volunteer hours on behalf of their family. Contact us with ideas and questions.
